Choosing the Right Water Leak or Level Monitoring Sensor for Your Application

The YoLink Water Leak Sensor 1 is a self-contained and waterproof device with water detection electrodes on the top and bottom. It does not have a built-in sounder, but you can consider using one of the YoLink sirens or the Speakr Hub for audible tones and voice messages. This sensor offers a battery life of 5+ years with two replaceable AAA batteries.

The YoLink Water Leak Sensor 2, on the other hand, is not waterproof and must be located in a dry area. It comes with a water-sensing cable that can detect water along its entire length, and you can add up to 12 additional cables to create a specific coverage region, such as wrapping around a dishwasher or laundry machine. This sensor has a built-in sounder that can be optionally disabled in the app and a battery life of 2+ years with two AAA batteries.

The YoLink Water Level Monitoring Sensor includes the Water Leak Sensor 2, but it is shipped with a cable that has water-sensing electrodes only at the tip. This cable is better suited for monitoring the level of water in a well, water trough, or fish tank. You can use the included cable or connect it to your own float switch.
